DARE TO DEVELOP A DIAMOND

“Dare to Develop a Diamond” is a ground-breaking new initiative by Netball Australia to focus on the development of a netball athlete specifically targeting 11 to 13 years of age.

Netball NSW Coach Development Coordinator Dianne Brown will introduce the new program and the philosophy and responsibility of ensuring that you’re coaching meets the individual needs and challenges for each of your players. This session will provide the skills to be able to identify the developmental needs of each individual player and prioritise them within a team environment. The primary aim is to develop and correct individual player technique, develop the players’ ability to withstand the effects of speed and fatigue, and to consistently execute the skills of netball under pressure.

The practical session will provide creative and innovative ideas for the delivery of the ‘Dare to Develop a Diamond’ program. You will have demonstrated a range of activities designed to teach the technical and tactical skills in netball and physical preparation component of the program. The core focus of this session will be to concentrate on a range of fundamental sports skills including throwing, catching, jumping, running and basic game formats that encourage fun, skill development and decision making.

The final session will deliver the athlete wellbeing component of the course and provide all the resources you will need to implement the ‘Dare to Develop a Diamond’ program in 2014!

This program is being held by Camden & District Netball Association on Saturday, 15th February, 2014 at 10am at the Clubhouse, Cnr Camden Valley Way & Hilder Street, Elderslie.
